Is a board-certified Psychiatrist, sub-specializing in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Many would say she has never met a stranger as evidenced by her natural ability to connect, listen, and to support those with whom she comes into contact.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia during which time she participated in the Semester at Sea program, sailing to ten countries across four continents in 100 days. Ask her, she’d love to share!
Dr. McKnight graduated from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine with high regard and went on to train at leading institutions such as Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey for Psychiatry Residency and Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC for Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, where she served as Chief Fellow.
Currently, Dr. McKnight is the Medical Director of Integrative Behavioral Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) and a lead Psychiatrist in the Fort Worth School-Based Mental Health Program.
Dr. McKnight is a wife and mother to six children. She understands family and the real life demands of parenting across the vast (and ever changing) needs of our children. She places importance on families knowing that they are not alone and appropriately leans into her patients with this lens.
What matters most to Dr. McKnight is that one feels seen, valued, and cared for. She fights for healthy families, seeing the child as part of a whole. She respects her patients, offering to partner with them, walking alongside them with clinical integrity and acumen.
In addition to providing current, relevant, and evidence-based treatment,
Dr. McKnight, seeks to provide patients/families with the necessary tools to incite confidence and to foster success in navigating the perplexities of mental health. She enhances her ability to support her patients through her commitment to her field through scholarly activity, national, and community involvement.
Dr. McKnight is intentional in collaborating with community partners to ensure that children/families, especially those within vulnerable populations, are quickly identified, properly diagnosed, and treated. A champion of collaborative care for nearly a decade, she understands the vitality of working within a multidisciplinary team.
